Suspenders

A garter belt (also called a suspender belt) is a narrow band worn around your hips or waist, with four or more hanging clips that hold up your stockings.

Unlike stay-up stockings (which stay in place with a silicone band), regular stockings are attached with a garter belt. This creates a classic, elegant look and prevents stockings from sliding down.

Attach your stockings in a few steps:

1. 1Put on the garter belt first — it sits at your waist or hips depending on the style
2. 2Put on your stockings — roll them up carefully along your legs
3. 3Attach the clips — open the clasp, place the top of the stocking over the round nub, and close the clasp
4. 4Adjust the length — most straps are adjustable. The clips should hold the stockings firmly but comfortably

Tip: wear your garter belt under your panties, so you can use the bathroom without detaching everything.

A garter belt is more versatile than you might think:

• With a lingerie set — the classic combination: matching bra, panty, and garter belt with stockings
• With a bodystocking — wear the belt over a bodystocking for a layered look
• With a babydoll — the garter belt peeks out beneath the babydoll hem

A garter belt needs the same care as your other lingerie:

• Hand wash in lukewarm water with mild detergent
• Check the clips regularly — if the rubber nub is worn, the clasp will not hold stockings properly
• Store the belt flat or rolled, not with clips open
• Avoid contact with sharp objects that could damage the elastic or fabric
• Always wash separately from clothing with zippers or hooks
